"A lot of people don't know this, but I made Rainbow Tales out of inspiration for Jans Works"
This was said to me by my good friend. We both liked and still like all of the things this guy has done. I've noticed a lot of riled up bronies ready to attack hasbro over the news rumbling around lately. Sure it would be easy to be mad at hasbro and have them rue the day and whatnot, but I understand that copyright is a complicated thing. Many of the people getting angry don't understand how this stuff works, and while i can't explain why hasbro must C&D quality and appropriate works in legal terms, I know fully well that it is in their best interest to do these things. Think about it this way, what gain does trying to collapse a fandom of people with money do to help a business? Nothing. Its all on a scale of cost vs benefit.
Regardless of that, I like to look at the bright side of a situation like this. Jan can use this opportunity to further his creative skills beyond simple "fan animations". He and shadyvox are opened to their own IPs and can do anything they want! Seems like a sweet deal to me.
Also share this link: docs.google.com/document/d/1PD… It is a link to i think all of his old animations.
Another thing is his still going ask blogs Emerald May, and The Crusaders.
The only question remains... what does this mean for his lets go meet the bronies animation? since that one is more deeply engraved into the internet, it would be more difficult to remove. Also its like... official merchandise n stuff. Its like... a blurred line of official and fan to make us all fall into its pure blissful confusion. Or maybe im just dumb... Probably the latter.

My Least Favorite Things
Constant Skype call drops and messages buffering
Damp socks from puddles and warm air conditioning
So many things in this world cause me suffering
These are the top of my LEAST favorite things
Cream colored ponies and those stupid minions
laggers, 9 gaggers, and horrid opinions
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are the top of my LEAST favorite things
I like to get really creative when im butthurt. Makes me laugh and try to avoid the fact that ive been getting frustrated. Shoutouts to the worst program in existence Skype for doing all it can to make my frown.
So DA, what are your least favorite things?
Can you feel it?
I was looking through some el classico commercial-atos, and i felt myself overcome with a distinct feeling of nostalgia. Namely the one you see below
And i though to myself, this is the type of nostalgia feeling reserved for my youth right? It doesnt make sense to be nostalgic for something that's so recent does it? As a connoisseur of the nostalgic feel, i like it a whole lot, but as someone who doesn't like it when words are misused it makes me feel very ironic. (the jokes!)
So i ask you random passerby... Can you feel it?!? Or am i slowly losing my mind?
Oh yeah, I'm at bronycon.
Im probably actually gonna make a comic in the next few weeks if this con motivates me enough.
Your Horse News Today!
Pancakes? Did you say... PANCAKES?
Pancakes! PAAAAAAAAAAAN CAAAAAAKES! Erm sorry wrong show.
If every episode this season has a stack of fat pancakes then i will die a happy man. Almost makes me want to add a running pancake gag to my comics, almost. You lot have enough trouble finding the other two most of the time. I did call the pancakes out this time around and a horrid acquaintance of mine stole the idea and claimed it as his own, you know who you are. Aside from that, I realize that pancakes are now a major tag on derpibru... derpibroo? derpibrou?!? HOWEVER you spell it DAMN! Lets just call this the year of the pancakes.

I'm guessing that what Jan received was a standard C&D. The truth is serving a cease & desist is a warning required under current copyright law before any action is taken. The cease & desist doesn't even require one to sue, it just indicates you think someone is muscling in on your intellectual property and would like to be able to. It would be in Hasbro's (and, indeed, every company's best interest) to serve cease and desists to everyone regarding everything, but that would be a colossal waste of everyone's time. My guess is their lawyers flag everything that looks remotely like infringement just to be safe (and earn their keep). I do find it interesting that Jan thinks Legal and HR at Hasbro are so well connected... I would imagine that they are fairly well-separated, though it's not as if I have any first-hand knowledge.
